If you are thinking of heading off on a camping holiday this year then you need to make sure you are well prepared.  There are many places all over the UK where you can camp such as in dedicated camp sites or even in holiday parks where they offer a camping facility.  However, how enjoyable your camping experience is will all depend on how well prepared you are and whether or not you have everything that you need.  And what you take with you will be determined by the type of camping you will be doing and where you will be doing it.

Minimalist Campers

If you can do without a lot of luxury and comfort, then you would be considered a minimalist camper and probably wouldn’t require a lot of items with you.  You will probably be at home camping in the wilderness and will have no problem adapting to your surroundings.  Provided you have food with you and the ability to light a fire, you should be fine wherever you are.  You would probably be fine sleeping out under the stars and won’t even require a tent.

Gear Orientated Campers

If you like the idea of camping but still want to be comfortable, then you will want to take quite a lot with you.  You are probably the type of person who would like to camp in holiday parks because you will have a lot of facilities at your disposal but you will also have the whole camping experience.  If this sounds like you then making your camp a home away from home will require a little more preparation.  For example, you are going to need to take things like mini camping stoves, tables, camping chairs, cots and much more.  You will want to have a big enough tent so that everyone has somewhere to sleep and you will want to ensure that you have plenty of food with you.  You may even want to take a portable barbeque with you.

If you are not staying in a holiday park and need to build a fire then a small axe might be something to take with you so that you can chop some wood.  Make sure you have a lighter or some matches and preferably some fire lighters as these can ensure that lighting the fire is easier.  If you want some great camping gear then visiting a camping store is a good idea.  You may come across a number of items that would make your camping trip much easier despite the fact that you never even thought of these items before.
